KeNHA has commenced the 2026 Road Construction Programme covering 2,500 km of national trunk roads, with completion targeted for December 2027.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has commenced work on the 2026 Road Construction Programme, covering the rehabilitation and construction of 2,500 kilometres of national trunk roads across all eight regions.

The programme is funded through the Road Maintenance Levy Fund, the Kenya Development Finance Company, and concessional loans from development partners. Total project cost is estimated at KES 350 billion.

Priority routes include the Nairobi–Mombasa A2 upgrade (dual carriageway extension to Athi River), the A1 Nairobi–Uganda Highway rehabilitation, the Lamu Port–South Sudan–Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor, and 47 county headquarters connectivity roads.
