Immigration opens new passport application centre in Kisii

From: GOV.KE EditorPublished: 6 August 2026

The Department of Immigration Services has opened a new regional passport application centre in Kisii, reducing travel distance for residents of the wider Gusii region.

The Department of Immigration Services has opened a new regional passport application centre in Kisii town, serving residents of Kisii, Nyamira, and surrounding counties who previously had to travel to Kisumu or Nairobi for passport services.

The centre offers full e-passport application services, including biometric capture, and is expected to serve approximately 15,000 applicants annually.

"This significantly reduces the cost and time burden for residents of the Gusii region," said the Immigration Regional Coordinator. Standard processing remains at 10 working days from the date of biometric capture.

The Kisii centre operates Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and Saturdays 8am to 1pm, at the Kisii Huduma Centre building.
