eCitizen registers 5 million new users in Q1 2026
The ICT Authority reports eCitizen crossed 5 million new user registrations in the first quarter of 2026, driven by uptake of the GOV.KE unified platform and SHA registration.
The ICT Authority has announced that the eCitizen platform registered over 5 million new users in the first quarter of 2026, more than double the same period last year.
The growth is attributed to mandatory Social Health Authority (SHA) registration, expanded mobile access, and the rollout of the GOV.KE unified platform, which now links directly to eCitizen for over 200 government services.
"We are seeing a fundamental shift in how citizens interact with government," said the ICT Authority CEO. "More than 60% of new registrations in this quarter came through mobile devices, reflecting our mobile-first strategy."
The Authority also reported a 35% reduction in average service processing time across the top 20 most-used services, including passport applications, business registration, and land title searches.
