All 47 counties to receive digital infrastructure support in 2026
The ICT Authority has announced a KES 4.2 billion investment programme to equip all 47 counties with reliable broadband, county e-services portals, and digital literacy training centres.
The ICT Authority has announced a KES 4.2 billion programme to ensure all 47 counties receive digital infrastructure support in the 2025/26 financial year under the Kenya Digital Economy Fund.
Each county will receive fibre connectivity at county headquarters, establishment of a county e-services portal integrated with GOV.KE, a minimum of 10 digital literacy training centres, and equipment for county government offices.
Counties in the Arid and Semi-Arid Land (ASAL) regions — including Turkana, Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir — will receive priority allocation under the fund, with a 40% budget weighting for underserved areas.
The programme builds on the existing Konza Technopolis development and the 25,000 km NOFBI network already deployed across the country.
